High density polyethylene or HDPE is a polymer plastic manufactured from petroleum. It is one of the most versatile materials in industry. It’s very common and you’ve likely encountered this material when using a shampoo bottle, cutting board, or milk jug. High density polyethylene is well-known for its high tensile strength, strength-to-density ration, and high impact resistance. The vast majority of plastic pallets are made from HDPE (high density polyethylene) and PP (polypropylene), using either virgin or recycled resins. The difference between virgin resins and recycled resins is important when considering plastic pallets.

Rotational Molding
Easy to Melt and Mold
One of the best benefits of HDPE is that it’s malleable. Since it has a high melting point, it can remain unbending at very high temperatures. Once it reaches its melting point, it will melt quickly. This is when it can be molded into virtually any application.

Resistant to Corrosion
This type of plastic is resistant to rotting, mildew, and mold. As a result, it is often used in underground piping to transport water. The weather-resistant and long-lasting nature of HDPE makes it ideal for sterilization via boiling. It is also capable of withstanding acids and bases, and naturally occurring chemicals in the ground.

High Strength-to-Density Ratio
The strength-to-density ratio of HDPE lies from 0.93 to 0.97 g. When examined under a microscope, it shows minimal branching in its linear structure. This gives it superb tensile strength. For instance, a 60 gram HDPE vessel is capable of carrying nearly a gallon of liquid.
Easily Recycled
We use plastic in our daily lives. Due to growing concerns for the environment, it is important to consider plastic recycling. Luckily, HDPE is easy to recycle. You may use and reuse objects made from it for a long time. This will keep this non-biodegradable material out of city landfills.
